Gujarat Earthquake Rehabilitation

It has been 4 long years since the killer quake hit Gujarat on the 26th January 2001. Various agencies have put in lot of effort for the reconstruction work in the devasted parts of Gujarat but few have been able to sustain the efforts & bring it to a useful conclusion the way we at Round Table India have been able to do.

Tables of Gujarat worked in tandem with Round Table India. The RTI leadership laid out the masterplan in close co-ordination with Surat, Baroda & Ahmedabad Tables. The donations came in from all quarters both from within and outside the country.

The efforts and contributions from Tablers all over, Ladies Circle, corporates like Wipro, various organizations big & small and above all the large number of big-hearted individuals was really commendable. It was as though humanity as a whole was standing up to fight this act of nature.

Apart from the large number of immediate relief items sent to Gujarat, Round Table India, raised Rs.2.50 crores and built 14 schools in various places in Gujarat, which stand testimony to the collective efforts of so many people.
Today after a lot of hard work we see the fruits of our labour - the smiling faces of a large number of children who are aboe to attend school once again.

What better reward can one get?

True to the spirit of tabling, Round Table rose to the occasion at the hour of need.
